Half of Banned US Liquor Stock Remains After Initial Buying Frenzy

NL Liquor Corporation CEO Bruce Keating describes the first few days after the lifting of the sale of American products as “like Black Friday.”

The province lifted the ban on the sale of American liquor just before Christmas with the proceeds going to the Community Food Sharing Association.

The run on favourites like whiskey and California wines lasted a few days before the product was sold out, but just over half of their overall inventory of American products remains.

Keating expects that will take a bit more time to sell since the initial rush has slowed considerably.

“We’re about halfway” says Keating of the inventory that’s left. “I think as it is with everything, there are some products that are very, very popular, there are other products that will be less popular that will take a little more time to sell though.”
