YOU SAID IT: O'Leary for Conservative leader

O’LEARY FOR LEADER

As I see it, should Pierre Poilievre not be given a vote of confidence in the upcoming leadership review, I feel there is only one candidate who can lead the Conservative party to victory and only one man who truly has the country’s best interests at heart.

Obviously, it would be a longshot and would take the entire party to figuratively get down on bended knees and beg the only man I feel who has the know-how and expertise to get this country back on its economic feet to take over the party.

I know that back in 2017 he dropped out of the leadership race, however, the situation was not as dire then as it is now. I think Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O’Leary, is the only person for the job!

U.S. PROTECTING PROTESTERS?

A recent headline said Donald Trump was “prepared” to intervene in Iran. That’s rich, the U.S. protecting protesters.

The irony here is stunning. Only the degree of offence is different. For now.

Iran versus the U.S.A. comparison:

Iran shoots its own people. The U.S.A. shoots its own people.

Iran sends in its paramilitary. The U.S.A. sends in its ICE storm troopers.

Iran claims it needs to regain control. The U.S.A. claims it needs to retain control.

Iran’s religious elite sets the “truth” standard. The U.S.A.’s presidential elite sells their “truth” story.

Amazing the similarities!

A prime example of the old adage about “the pot calling the kettle black.”

CANADA SHOULD STAY OUT OF IT

Re: Don’t ignore situation in Iran, letter to the editor, online, Jan. 13

I disagree with the opinion of the above letter writer that Canada has some responsibility to do something about the situation in Iran.

There are many countries in the world with bad governments and dangerous situations. Not only does Canada have no influence in any of those countries, but we are not the world’s saviours. And, when you do try to interfere in other countries, you get hatred instead of thanks.

Canadians need to make Canada better and leave other countries alone.
