A crash on Highway 1 on Saturday has left a motorcyclist with serious injuries and police seeking witnesses.
B.C. Highway Patrol spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé said that the accident involving a Suzuki motorcycle and a Mitsubishi SUV and occurred just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Atkinson Road in Abbotsford.
“Initial investigation indicated that the Mitsubishi was travelling westbound when the motorcycle, travelling in the same direction collided with the vehicle,” Bérubé said.
“The impact of the collision was a such that debris were strewn across the highway, resulting in serious injuries to the motorcyclist. The driver of the Mitsubishi was not physically injured.”
The highway reopened seven hours after the crash.
Investigators are now asking anyone who witnessed the accident or may have video evidence to contact the B.C. Highway Patrol in Chilliwack at 604-702-4039.
